Bear Bachmeier Named Big 12 Freshman of the Week
BYU quarterback Bear Bachmeier has made history in more ways than one. Just days after becoming the first true freshman in school history to start a season opener at quarterback, Bachmeier has been named the Big 12 Freshman of the Week for his dazzling debut performance against Portland State.
The Murrieta, California native wasted no time showing why he was one of the most highly recruited signal-callers in the 2025 class. In just one half of action, Bachmeier completed 7 of 11 passes for 97 yards and three touchdowns, while also rushing five times for 32 yards and two more scores. His five total touchdowns were more than his number of incompletions, a remarkable feat for a first collegiate start.
