This milestone caps a remarkable season that saw the Mountaineers establish themselves as one of college baseball’s premier programs under head coach Randy Mazey’s leadership.
The ranking represents a significant leap for a program that was unranked in preseason polls, proving doubters wrong with a 42-16 campaign that included series wins over five ranked opponents. WVU’s explosive offense, anchored by Big 12 Player of the Year J.J. Wetherholt, led the nation in several offensive categories while the pitching staff emerged as one of the conference’s most reliable units.
