CRIMSON GENEROSITY: Nick and Miss Terry Saban Host Annual Nickโs Kids Foundation Luncheon at Bryant-Denny Stadium, Honoring Lulu Gribbin With Prestigious Nickโs Kid Award in Celebration of Community Impact and Inspiring Resilience
It was a day filled with heart, hope, and generosity at Saban Field in Bryant-Denny Stadium as Nick and Miss Terry Saban hosted their much-anticipated annual Nickโs Kids Foundation Giveaway Luncheon. Continuing a tradition rooted in compassion and community support, the legendary Alabama football coach and his wife welcomed hundreds of guests to celebrate organizations and individuals who exemplify service, strength, and the true spirit of giving back.
The 2025 edition of the luncheon was especially emotional as the Sabans presented the cherished Nickโs Kid Award to Lulu Gribbin, a courageous young woman whose story has touched hearts far beyond Tuscaloosa.
Gribbin, known for her bravery and unbreakable spirit, has inspired many through her personal journey of healing and hope. Her resilience following a tragic and traumatic shark attack in Florida earlier this year moved the Alabama community and beyond. Despite the hardships, Lulu has carried herself with unwavering strength, becoming a beacon of light and an advocate for perseverance, safety, and faith. Her story became a powerful testimony to the human will, and today, she stood honored before a standing ovation from everyone in attendance.
โWe are so proud of Lulu,โ said Miss Terry Saban. โHer courage, her faith, and her heart for others are exactly what this award represents. She’s an incredible young lady who reminds us all what it means to never give up.โ
The event not only honored Lulu but also continued the foundationโs longstanding mission of supporting children, families, and organizations across the state of Alabama. Over $600,000 was awarded to more than 150 charitable and education-based organizations, with a focus on helping those who serve children in need. From literacy programs and children’s hospitals to mentorship initiatives and youth-focused nonprofits, the impact of Nickโs Kids continues to ripple across the region year after year.
Coach Saban, now retired from coaching but still deeply engaged in philanthropic efforts, reflected on the legacy of the foundation:
โMiss Terry and I always say that while football was our passion, thisโgiving backโis our purpose. Today is about celebrating those who lift others up, and seeing Lulu receive this award is one of the most special moments weโve had.โ
Founded in 1998, Nickโs Kids Foundation has become a cornerstone of charitable giving in Alabama, especially in Tuscaloosa, where the Sabans have made a profound impact both on and off the field. Their โBuild the Bridgeโ philosophyโbringing people together through serviceโwas on full display today, reminding everyone in attendance what true leadership and love for community looks like.
As the luncheon concluded with music, smiles, and plenty of โRoll Tideโ chants, one message rang louder than the rest:
Compassion builds championsโand Lulu Gribbin is a true champion of the heart.
